With deep sorrow the Verkhovna Rada announces about the untimely death of Mykolaiv City Mayor Volodymyr CHAYKA at the age of 65.
A hereditary worker, Volodymyr Chayka started as an ordinary oxygen cutter and became the city mayor. Volodymyr Dmytrovych was a champion among Ukrainian mayors – he was elected to this responsible post four times which testifies to his enormous authority among the residents of the city of ships.
The state highly appreciates dedicated work of Volodymyr Dmytrovych in the field of city management; he was awarded with the Order of Merit (II and III grade).
A great man, a talented organizer, an experienced practician has passed away. Everyone who knew Volodymyr Dmytrovych saw him as a bright person who loved Ukraine and life. He was valued as a leader, who loved people and did a lot for them.
The cherished memory of Volodymyr Dmytrovych will forever remain in our grateful hearts.
